BUDGET

There are great program that cover up to 75% of the costs associated with fees connected to the residency.  (That may even includes transportation and accommodation)   It's worth checking into.

The financial considerations in hosting a residency have been met in various ways by  schools choosing to host Shawn Kinley.

In Alberta The ALBERTA FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS pays for 75% of the cost outside of Calgary and Edmonton and 50% of the cost in those two cities.  This makes a week long residency an extremely affordable and rewarding experience for any school.

A well thought out budget plan can make a residency not only inexpensive but in some cases profitable. (although creating a profit should not be the aim of the school)

Some schools have gone to the community and received financial support from local organizations or have run fundraisers around the arts (selling tickets for shows or a draw for a piece of art. One school actually had the students performance at the end of the week presented in conjunction with a simple buffet style dinner which they sold tickets for (it was a bit of work but the school actually made a profit).

In conjunction with another school, there are some savings that will occur. For each school the price of the residency will be $100 dollars less. Also the price of transportation is split between two schools instead of paid by one. Here's the breakdown.

TRANSPORTATION - $ Dependant on Location

ACCOMMODATION - Dependant on local rates or on billeting

ARTIST FEE - Please contact for specific information
