| In his Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Howard
Gardener proposes that people are not simply "smart" or
"dull." Rather they have different
"intelligences."
He identifies seven intelligences are:
Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence Visual/Spatial Intelligence
Musical Intelligence Logical/Mathematical Intelligence
Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence Interpersonal Intelligence
Intrapersonal Intelligence |
| It can get quite complicated but really we can look
at how we learn in three ways -
VISUAL
HEARING
TACTILE (touch)
When we learn we don't do it in just one way.
We do a little of each but our strength is often in one area. |
| And there are theories that we learn in other ways
too. I think there must be something connected to our emotions
and experiences.
When you learn to speak louder to people who are hard of
hearing, you learned because of the experience and maybe because you
"felt" (emotionally) that it worked to speak louder.
No one told you, there were no visual signs and it wasn't a lesson
you could touch. Experience is a great teacher. Learn
from your successes and mistakes. |
